Scenes From A War of the Day: An inflammatory, extremely NSFW video, alleging to show four marines urinating on the corpses of dead Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan, has surfaced online.
The video, which identifies the troops as scout snipers with the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines “out of camp lejeune [NC]” was originally uploaded by a user named “semperfiLoneVoice.”
In a statement released to the press, USMC Media Officer Captain Kendra N. Hardesty said the origin and authenticity of the video are currently being verified, adding that “this matter will be fully investigated and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.”
“The actions portrayed are not consistent with our core values and are not indicative of the character of the Marines in our Corps,” said Cpt. Hardesty.
The Pentagon has also launched an investigation.
